Senior Automation Engineer (SDET)
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Automation Engineer to take full ownership of our existing QA automation framework and elevate it to the next level. You’ll focus primarily on API automation using RestAssured, with supporting UI tests in Selenium—both built in Java using Cucumber and the Screenplay pattern.
This role sits at the intersection of reliable testing and cutting-edge innovation. You’ll collaborate with AI-focused teammates building an auto-scripting assistant to help accelerate quality engineering. Your work will directly impact how fast and confidently we ship software.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain robust API test coverage using Java, RestAssured, Cucumber, and Screenplay.
- Refactor and streamline test utilities into clean, reusable components (Screenplay tasks, page objects, interactions).
- Improve test data management strategies, including read-only SQL validations and effective seeding/teardown approaches.
- Strengthen test stability and execution through better CI practices in Jenkins—including flaky test isolation, retries, and parallelism.
- Collaborate with our Automation Agent Engineer to review and productionize autoscripted test skeletons.
- Write clear documentation: test structure, naming conventions, contribution standards, and environment coverage.
- Work with internal helper libraries and step definitions, improving their clarity and maintainability.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer or SDET, with strong Java development skills.
- Proven expertise with RestAssured, Selenium, Cucumber, and ideally the Screenplay pattern (Serenity BDD or similar).
- Solid grasp of API testing best practices—auth flows, JSON schema validation, headers, and contract testing principles.
- SQL skills to validate backend data across multiple database engines.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, particularly Jenkins, and strong Git/code review hygiene.
It is an asset if you have:
- Interest or experience in AI-assisted test automation—including reviewing autoscripted code or prompt-aware improvements.
- Familiarity with tools like Allure/Serenity reporting, WireMock, Testcontainers, or integrating performance smokes into CI.
- Locations
- Multiple locations
- Remote status
- Fully Remote
