Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support our SQL Server environment on a evening shift (6PM to 2PM). This role will focus on maintaining and optimizing our current SQL Server 17 infrastructure, with potential involvement in planning and advising on a future upgrade to SQL Server 2022. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, reliable, and able to deliver expert support in a limited-hour engagement. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain SQL Server 17 databases, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions.
• Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery processes.
• Contribute to planning and readiness for a potential future SQL Server 2022 upgrade.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Strong proficiency with SQL Server 17 or greater administration.
• Solid understanding of performance tuning, query optimization, and high availability.
• Experience managing database backups, restores, and recovery strategies.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a part-time capacity.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with SQL Server clustering.
• Familiarity with Azure SQL / Azure clustering.
• Knowledge of data governance and compliance practices.
• Experience with database migration planning or execution.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide guidance on best practices and improvements.
• Support governance and compliance efforts as needed.

• Time Commitment: ~6PM to 2AM PST time zone
• Contract Type: Full Time (Contract)
